Compiles and analyzes tax and financial records to prepare tax basis balance sheets and maintain tax accounts for statutory, US GAAP and IFRS accounting bases. Coordinates research for certain IRS document requests and responds to information requests and clarification and reconciliation of items on returns. Prepares memorandum to support research conclusions for audit and return positions. Assists in establishing, modifying, and documenting implementation of tax accounting methods and SOX control procedures. Assists in the continuous development and implementation of improvements to the system for tax accounting. Recommends operational improvements. Through sharing technical expertise in functional area, coaches, develops and influences peers, tax senior accountants and tax accountants. Evaluates and/or controls/monitors processes. Prepares written technical advice to business units. Stays current on life insurance taxation technical issues.
