Position Description:
The Machine Shop Specialist maximizes labor sales, operating efficiencies, and profits in machine shop operations. The Machine Shop Specialist also recommends equipment upgrades and evaluates assets, personnel, and facilities for potential acquisitions. Additional responsibilities would include providing assistance upon request to independent CARQUEST jobbing customers via on-site visits, developing and maintaining forms for use in the shop environment.
EDUCATION:
A High School Diploma/GED
Associates Degree is a plus
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5 years experience in machine shop required
Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driving license and a good driving record
A technical and operating knowledge of automotive machine shop operations

Responsible for directing and guiding operators and their activities for assigned area/shift in the execution of production and/or logistics plans (receiving, processing, mixing, baking, packaging, shipping, etc.), shift change management and communication, daily production standards and labor reconciliation. Responsible for problem solving process to resolve and/or mitigate those operational issues result in negative performance to plan as determined by the established escalation process.
Responsible for support of Lean Training as directed by Operations Manager for assigned area/shift.
Ensure adherence to all standard work processes, including K-LEAN processes (also LEO), S2&S3, Admin adds, 5S, SIC, MCRS, and OMS
Responsible for compliance with all regulations. Food safety ' plant in proper sanitary condition at all times, including allergen control, pest control, guidelines followed. Compliance with food safety policies and procedures. Compliance with employee safety policies and procedures.
Warehouse responsibility to include palletizing area, supervision of hourly/clerk employees, product reconciliation, and outbound execution to the schedule. Responsible for receiving, shipping and COA; DLX management and SAP; BOL preparation; Yard management; Management of rolling plant stock; Accountability for DURP (ensuring compliance to procedures, tracking, etc.); Homeland security => CTPAT; Physical inventory; Staging Raw/Pack Materials.

JOB SUMMARY:
Manages the production process in a manner that optimizes work flow and efficiency and meets production goals and profitability objectives. Directly supervises production workers to ensure that production standards are followed and goals are achieved, positive employee relations result, and policies, rules and regulations and procedures are followed.

Identifies and recommends production improvement strategies that enhance equipment and worker performance, efficiency and product quality.
Monitors equipment and schedules repairs in a manner that does not compromise production schedules and demands.
Inspects products to ensure specifications and assists with machine set-up and adjustments, as needed.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
AA degree in Business, Management or production-related field from two year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
2 years of related production experience and proven effectiveness in a lead role
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Ability to supervise employees and maintain positive employee relations
Manage multiple priorities against tight deadlines
Read, interpret and apply procedural, maintenance, and policy information
Utilize math skills related to the department operations
Apply logic and reasoning in addressing technical, operational and employee-related issues.
